Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Bugshan holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in 1977. Mr. Bugshan leads a large number of Engineering and Business Enterprises with global reach. His positions and businesses include being the Ex-Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Council of Engineers; Vice-Chairman of the Saudi-Yemen Business Council; a Director of M/s. Abdullah Said Bugshan & Bros.; responsible for several mega projects in civil, telecommunication, electrical and mechanical engineering. Mr. Bugshan is CEO of Arabian Consulting Engineering Center, (established in 1978), a prominent engineering house in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which was responsible for design and construction supervision of several public and private sector projects such as industrial projects, residential buildings and compounds, commercial buildings, roads and bridges, hospitals, airports, petrochemical and military facilities. Mr. Bugshan is CEO of Mrazeem Industrial Services Co. Ltd., involved in on-shore and off-shore support projects. The company has 30% ownership in Snamprogetti E&C Co Ltd. a JV company with Snamprogetti Netherlands BV, involved in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for Saudi Aramco. Mr. Bugshan is CEO of House of Invention International Co., actively participating in telecommunications projects. Mr. Bugshan is CEO of Arabian Bugshan Group, dealing in sale, service and maintenance of heavy construction equipment and is a partner in Saudi Development & Innovation Group (SADIG Industries), involved in development of downstream industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Bugshan is a Partner and Member of the Board of Directors of the Tanmiah Industrial & Commercial Investment Co, a JV with Arcelor-Mittal involved in production of Tubular Products and steel pipes. He is a Partner and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arabian-Yemeni Cement Co. Mr. Bugshan holds many other positions and prestigious University Chairs. He has extensively supported a number of environmental, educational and research institutions. Mr. Bugshan brings to Sheba Microsystems significant leadership and vision.
Ridha Ben-Mrad, P.Eng., FCSME, Director of the Mechatronics and Microsystems Group and a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, University of Toronto. He joined the University of Toronto in 1997, having previously held positions at the National Research Council of Canada in Vancouver, BC, and the Ford Research Laboratory in Dearborn, Michigan. R. Ben-Mrad received a PHD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1994. R. Ben-Mrad’s research interests are micro-actuators and sensors, MEMS, microfabrication, and development of smart materials based devices. He published more than 160 refereed publications and has more than 12 US, European, and Canadian patents. He received the Faculty Early Career Teaching Award in 2002 and the Connaught Innovation Award in 2013 and in 2014. R. Ben-Mrad chairs the IEEE IES Committee on MEMS and Nanotechnology (2015-2016), is Associate Editor of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Tech News (2013-current), and serves on the Steering Committee of the IEEE Journal on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (2010-current). He was a Technical Editor of the IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (2010-2014) and a guest editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (2010-2012).
Mr. Ahmed S. Bashaweih, received the B. Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1978 from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and the M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1986 from King Abdul Aziz University. Mr. Bashaweih holds over 35 years of senior leadership experience in various businesses including in refinery and distributions operations, power plants, electrical systems, performance improvement, strategic and business planning, marketing and many others. Mr. Bashaweih held many senior positions including being in charge of the Saudi Aramco – Joint Venture Development of the Rabigh Phase II Implementation Program and Executive Director of Corporate Planning at the Saudi Arabian Marketing & Refining Co. Mr. Bashaweih brings to Sheba Microsystems significant engineering leadership experience in various tasks including scale up of operations, strategic planning and extensive business development experience.
Faez Ba-Tis is received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2016. He conducted his research at the Mechatronics and Microsystem Design Laboratory at the University of Toronto, where he earned his M.A.Sc. degree in 2014. He received the Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering from the International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2011. He is specialized in the design and micro-fabrication of large force MEMS electrostatic actuators and highly sensitive capacitive accelerometers and force sensors. He has an extensive experience in microfabrication processes and design of high performance MEMS devices. He has 7 US patents and patent applications. He was a recipient of the Huawei Microsystems Design Award at the CMC Microsystems Annual Symposium in Gatineau, QC, Canada, in 2014.
Amer is the Managing Director of Seabridge Capital, a wealth management company established in 2001 and located in Southport, CT. He worked for 13 years at Citibank both here and abroad in divisions such as Private Banking, Investment Banking, Global Finance and Transaction Services. He has also worked at the Arab Jordan Investment Bank and Shearson Lehman Hutton International in London. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees (Phi Beta Kappa, 3.85 GPA) in Business Administration from George Washington University, with a concentration in international finance and marketing. He is a board member of Jerusalem Peacebuilders as well as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
