Problem

Sheba Microsystem’s revolutionary MEMS autofocus actuator for active athermalization in embedded vision cameras used in drones, action cameras, automotive, machine vision, and mobile robotics. Embedded vision cameras often face challenges in maintaining image quality and focus stability during temperature fluctuations as the optics undergo thermal expansion. While smartphones use electromagnetic autofocus actuators, they are not reliable for embedded vision cameras due to extreme environmental conditions and larger optics. Other autofocus systems in-market such as tunable lenses lack thermal stability and compromise optical quality.

Provides autofocus and active athermalization even in high action scenarios. The high mechanical shocks (in the range of 10’s of g’s) in action cameras (such as dirt bike driving) makes it challenging to use autofocus actuators.

However, Sheba AF actuator has extremely low sensitivity to mechanical shocks while providing autofocus.

Drones

Maintaining high resolution imaging regardless of temperature fluctuations or vibrations, as drones fly through various weather conditions.

Drones currently use fixed-focus but with Sheba technology autofocus, unprecedented high resolution sharp images can be achieved.

VCM driven AF selfie cameras rapidly consume the battery of smartphones with heavy use of streaming (e.g. video calls).

Since the VCM is placed around the optics, it occupies a relatively wider space of the front display.
